 Strategic Plan Updates

There is a monitoring team for each goal area of the strategic plan that meets regularly to review the progress toward the targets. All teams met for a kickoff meeting in January 2012, and have continued to meet (either virtually or in person) throughout the year. Updates shared with the monitoring teams will be posted below.

Strategic Plan Introduced on May 2

After months of work by the 34-member strategic planning team, the strategic plan was presented at the May 2, 2011 special Board of Education meeting. The team, which includes teachers, administrators, Board members, parents and community members at large, worked together under the guidance of facilitators from the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC). They also incorporated feedback from stakeholders who attended focus groups or responded to surveys.

Members of the strategic planning team presented the plan to the Board, discussing the extensive process of developing the plan, and outlining all the elements found in the plan document
  • Mission and vision
  • Priority areas and goals
  • Values/beliefs and commitments
  • Strategies
  • Indicators and measures
The next step is for the Board to review the plan, and to distribute the plan document to stakeholders to ensure that they have an opportunity to ask any questions about the plan -- how it was developed and how it will be implemented. The Board is expected to take action on the plan at its June 20 meeting. Upon adoption by the Board, the administration will begin creating and implementing specific action plans and putting in place indicators and measures to track progress.
