After months of work by the 34-member strategic planning team, the strategic plan was presented at the May 2, 2011 special Board of Education meeting. The team, which includes teachers, administrators, Board members, parents and community members at large, worked together under the guidance of facilitators from the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC). They also incorporated feedback from stakeholders who attended focus groups or responded to surveys.

The next step is for the Board to review the plan, and to distribute the plan document to stakeholders to ensure that they have an opportunity to ask any questions about the plan -- how it was developed and how it will be implemented. The Board is expected to take action on the plan at its June 20 meeting. Upon adoption by the Board, the administration will begin creating and implementing specific action plans and putting in place indicators and measures to track progress.
