To all our Kipling Families, We hope you’re enjoying your summer, but believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about getting ready for the 2009-2010 school year. We welcome many new families to the Kipling community and welcome back our returning families for an exciting new year. We are grateful to the many volunteers who chair our PTO committees this year. The PTO only functions effectively as a result of the fabulous efforts of our volunteers. We also thank the scores of parent volunteers whose commitment to Kipling enriches the education and experiences of our students. If you’d like to volunteer, let us know. We are very excited about our new executive board. They have been busy this summer preparing for all of the great PTO activities and services Kipling offers. The new executive board includes:

One of our first PTO events is Fee Day, which gives Kipling families the opportunity to connect with other parents and get ready for the upcoming school year by providing a one-stop-shop for school purchases. Fee Day is Tuesday, August 4 from 9 a.m. until noon and from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Multi-purpose room at Kipling. At Fee Day, you can purchase the 2009-2010 Kipling calendar with photos of our students and important school dates, thanks to Kim Preston and Lindsey Toban. You will also be able to preview and order Kipling Sportswear, thanks to Missy Rabinowitz, Abbi Gurevitz & Rachel Hesser. Order water bottles happy sacks and re-usable lunch bags, thanks to Environmental Awareness Chairs Karen Frey, Kim Colwyn, Amy Berger & Ruth Brenner. Membership committee chairmen—Peggy Pattis & Kathy Johnson—coordinate the Kipling Key, which is a great resource. Stop by their booth to update your Key information and join the PTO. Also, thanks to Amy Resnick, Jen Anders, & Karen Siegel, we are bringing back the Deerfield Discount Card, which offers great discounts at local businesses. Buy Pumpkin Fest T-shirts, wristbands, tickets, raffle tickets and volunteer to help out at this one-of-a-kind Kipling event. Our Pumpkinfest Chairs, Jennifer McKinney & Jenny Vuckovich, do a terrific job coordinating this annual event. The following committees will have volunteer sign-up sheets at Fee Day: Buses—Can you help out with bus routes the first week of school? See Jennifer Blumberg, our Health and Safety Chairman. Library—Want to volunteer in the library? Talk to LMC Chairman Marcie Scholar. Special Lunch—We rely on many volunteers to run this program. Please see Amy Resnick, Amy Berger or Kim Colwyn to sign-up to help out once a month or more. At Fee Day, you can also buy yearbooks, sign up for Before School Care, purchase books for Celebrate with Books and more. We feel very fortunate to work with such a talented group of teachers, administrators, volunteers and parents and are looking forward to a great year. Help us get off to a good start by participating in Fee Day. Also, please join us at 7:30 p.m. at our summer PTO meeting in the teacher’s lounge immediately following Fee Day. See you in August!
