Philanthropy Club is open to all students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The club runs throughout the school year with a fluctuating meeting schedule. Students are not required to come to every meeting. The Philanthropy Club is dedicated to helping those in need, not only in our local community, but also the city of Chicago, the United States, and beyond. Over the past several years, the philanthropy club has grown tremendously, with so many students willing, able, and excited to help those around us. We try to focus on helping those in need through various drives in the school (food, clothing, school supplies, books, etc.). In addition, we spend time with children in foster care, visit nursing homes, clean up around the school, and work on projects with Heller Nature Center. This year, we have combined with the newly formed non-profit company, Bin Donated. This company is going to help Shepard students store and transport goods to places around the Chicago area who need us. Finally, this year, we are starting a fundraiser for the charity, Make A Wish. We will be holding various fundraisers throughout the year, with our goal being to grant one child a wish by the end of the year.
Anyone is welcome to participate as little or as much as he/she wants in philanthropy club. It is a great way to meet new people, and at the same time, help those who are in need.
