My name is Ms. Mackey, and I am a second-grade teacher at Wilmot. This is my third year at Wilmot, and I am thrilled to continue to watch second-graders learn and grow!
I grew up in Palatine, IL where I attended Fremd High School. From Palatine, I found my way to Ann Arbor, MI for college where I attended University of Michigan (Go Blue!). At Michigan, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education with an elementary eduaction and middle school mathematics certification. I am currently a student at DePaul University where I am pursuing my master's degree as a Reading Specialist.
I aspire to be a teacher to make a positive impact on students’ lives and the future they will be a part of. Education is an important part of a child's life, and I believe that educators play an integral role not only in the early years of life but beyond. I entered into the field of education because of the passion I have for instilling a love of learning in all students. School is a place for students to grow academically as well as socially and emotionally, and by cultivating a classroom of lifelong learners, students will develop into 21st-century learners while meeting their fullest potential. As an educator at Wilmot, I hope to support students in realizing their potential to learn, to make positive changes in the world around them, and continue to grow and develop as lifelong learners.
