After studying WWII, students visited the Holocaust Museum as an introduction to the Holocaust unit. (Thanks to the PTO for covering the costs of the trip.) Through various readings and activities, students saw how the Holocaust moved from words and anti-Jewish policies to mass murder.
Currently, students are researching a topic of their choice (about the Holocaust, genocide, or the 20th century after WWII) so that they can write a research paper. Also, they are learning some coding with Code HS. Code HS was developed by a Shepard Middle School and Deerfield High School graduate. Ask your student to show you how they can make Karel the Dog move! Later in February we will be heading into the Cold War.
