Digital Citizenship

  • All classroom teachers, along with the support of their building librarians, teach a series of digital citizenship lessons created primarily by Common Sense Media  and Google's Be Internet Awesome Our teachers and school librarians spend time early in the school year teaching these important skills to lay the foundation for safe and appropriate technology use as well as embedded throughout the year. To learn more about some of the digital citizenship lessons being taught at each individual grade level, please see our Digital Citizenship Lesson Guide.

Raising children in the digital age is no small task. That's why District 109 is committed to raising awareness and building partnerships with our parent community to support our students. District 109 recommends Common Sense Media as well as the work of Dr. Devorah Heitner and Dr. Justin Patchin as resources for families to help navigate this new frontier of parenting.
