LUNCH & RECESS

LUNCH/RECESS SCHEDULE

  • Kindergarten, 2nd, & 5th Grades 11:50 a.m.-12:45 p.m. - Lunch first, then recess
  • 1st, 3rd & 4th Grades: 11:50 a.m.-12:45 p.m. - Recess first, then lunch

FORGOTTEN LUNCH?

  • If your child forgets their lunch, we ask that you try to drop it off before their scheduled lunch time.  Late arriving lunches can be left on the lunch cart in the vestibule. Paper, pens, and tape are located on the cart so you can easily label your child's lunch.

Allergy Plan & Snack Policy

  • District 109 adopted a progressive allergy plan in 2014 that keeps our students with allergies safe and promotes healthy eating habits. You may click here to access the full allergy plan, but here is an excerpt on our classroom snack policy.

Daily Snacks: Teachers have the option to determine if there will be snacks allowed during class. If snack is allowed, students may bring snacks that are fruits, vegetables, cheese, and yogurt. Dried fruits and applesauce are allowed.  No additions, toppings or mix-ins (such as dips or spreads, granola or cookie crumbles) shall be included. If teachers allow drinks in the classroom, the only drink in the classroom shall be water.

When Will Recess Be Inside?

    • Generally, recess & morning lineup will be moved indoors if:

      • The temperature is 14 degrees or below (with windchill)
      • It is raining
      • Severe weather is present

As the temperatures continue to drop in the winter months, we ask our students to dress properly with hats, gloves, boots, snowpants, etc, as needed. Additionally, students are required to wear gym shoes for physical education class, so please keep a spare pair in your child’s locker. For very wet weather, you may want to have a spare pair of jeans and socks in the locker so your child can change into dry clothes if needed. Students are allowed to leave gym shoes, snow pants, etc. at school.
