Overview of Testing Program:
WHO CAN BE TESTED?
Current DPS 109 students & current DPS 109 staff *that are referred by a school nurse or administrator*
HOW MAY SOMEONE BE REFERRED FOR TESTING?
Students & staff may be referred for testing if:
A) An individual presents with symptoms after entering a District facility
B) An individual remains home due to COVID-19 Symptoms
C) Student or staff member in a District facility is exposed to an individual with confirmed COVID-19 at a distance less than 6ft for more than 15 minutes in a given day
D) The student or staff member is in a District facility and is either within close contact of a student or staff member with a positive diagnosis or is in the proximity, defined as within the classroom space or bus but not within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes, of a student or staff member with a positive diagnosis
WHEN IS THE TESTING?
Between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. every day that school is in session. You do not need to and are not encouraged to show up prior to 11 a.m. In fact, showing up in the middle of the time period will likely result in the shortest wait time for testing. Those that test at the beginning and the end of the 11-2 range would still get their results at the same time.
WHERE IS THE TESTING?
In a drive-thru location outside the District Office, located at 517 Deerfield Road
WHO IS DOING THE TESTING?
A district medical testing professional employed by District 109 will conduct the test. Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories is our contracted provider for analyzing the tests.
WHAT KIND OF TEST WILL BE PERFORMED?
COVID-19 tests conducted using the Anterior Nares Nasal Swab will be proctored by a Registered Nurse with lab ordering capabilities under the National Provider Identifier Standard. The test administered is an RT-PCR test.
HOW MUCH DOES THE TEST COST?
It is free for students and staff. The district is picking up the cost of the testing.
WHEN WILL RESULTS BE AVAILABLE?
Samples will be picked up daily by a courier and transported to Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories. Results will generally be available the next day.
HOW WILL I GET MY RESULTS?
If the test is negative, you will be informed via email.
If the test is positive, a school nurse or administrator will call you (or your guardian).
WILL MY CHILD'S PEDIATRICIAN GET A COPY OF THE RESULTS?
The school district will not send a copy of your child's test results to any party.
CAN I DECLINE A DISTRICT TEST?
Absolutely. No individual will be required to use the district's testing system. Any individual that declines a district-provided test would then quarantine for the directed period of time outlined in the IDPH Exclusion Guidance and follow all requirements as laid out in that guidance (e.g., doctor’s note to return) OR secure a negative COVID test through their own physician.
I THINK I (IF YOU'RE A STAFF MEMBER) OR MY CHILD (IF THEY'RE A 109 STUDENT) QUALIFIES TO BE TESTED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Every case starts with a conversation with your building nurse and administration. Please call them to begin talking through your concerns/reasoning as to why you feel a test is warranted.
