The Wilmot Word: 2-14-19

Enjoy The Long Weekend
As a reminder, there is no school for students tomorrow, Friday, February 15, Monday, February 18 or Tuesday, February 19. We will see all students on Wednesday, February, 20.

This Week at Wilmot
We had another great week filled with engaging lessons and activities. Last Saturday night Mrs. Dubin was joined by the members of our Project Runway Jr. club for a special trip to Joann Fabrics. Mrs. Santella and her own daughter joined in on the fun, as students learned to sew. The students made a special project and cannot wait for their spring fashion show this June.

As we head into Presidents Day weekend, some students learned information about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington and the important accomplishments of these two famous presidents. In Ms. Mackey’s room, students enjoyed a poetry slam as they shared their own poems with parents and guests. I heard some great poems about candy, camp, and grandparents!

Kindness Corner
#wilmotkindnessrocks Today we showered love and kindness on our community by packing over 250 birthday bags for Fill a Heart 4 Kids, which will be shared with children in foster care. Students met with buddy classes earlier this week to create birthday cards and bags as part of this special Valentine’s Day activities. Thank you to the many parent volunteers and our teachers for helping us put together this special school-wide activity.
