The Wilmot Word: 3-8-19

This Week at Wilmot
This was a busy week highlighted by the awarding of second-trimester spirit awards on Wednesday and the Wilmot-Caruso Classic (volleyball game) on Thursday.

We honored students from every 1st - 5th-grade classroom this week as well as 3 teachers with a trimester-two Spirit Award. We have found that by giving spirit awards throughout the year we are inspiring others to be kind and follow our PAWS principles. We came together as a full school community and congratulated our winners with a spirit award parade, where students and teachers walked the hallways receiving high-fives from the entire school community. Congratulations to:

1st Grade: Asher N., Elana. R., Charlie P., Hudson C., Danielle R., Joie B., Lucy B., Enzo J., Leisan M. and Mark R.

2nd Grade: David P., Jack G., Juliana S., Aven M., Colt P., Lily M., Sophia N., Jesse R., Holden F., Kayla K., Talia J.

3rd: Jake K., Harper F., Asher S., Chloe K., Ardyn K., Mila G., Riley K., Abigail R., Katya K., Kevin Z., and Evan L.

4th Grade: Irelynn B., Dylan P., Kalina M., Azalea M, Stone B., Aiden F., Hailey B., Isabella L., and M.J. W.

5th Grade: Trevor G., Kanoko. K., Anna N., Matthew M., Matthew N., Sam C., Eila A., Reid G., Jenna P., Jake P., and Blake M.

Yesterday, Wilmot’s fifth grade Team Give organized an amazing event that brought our school community together for a fundraiser that raised $1,900 for the Roberti Community House. Not only was this event fun for everyone but it truly represents many wonderful aspects of Wilmot School.

The Wilmot-Caruso Classic…
Supported student voice and leadership
A team of 5th graders presented their plans and ideas to our entire staff during an afterschool staff meeting
Showcased the “talents” of our staff and allowed us to model good sportsmanship for students
Was made possible by our wonderful parent volunteers
Supported collaboration between Wilmot and Caruso
Fostered creativity, speaking skills, and engagement
Students led the National Anthem
Students served as announcers
Students took photos
Students managed the scoreboard
Students created and performed a Wilmot dance/cheer
A student served as our mascot, Cubbie the Wolf
Brought our community together for an afternoon of fun and school spirit
Raised money for a worthy cause and helped students focus on giving to others

Thank you to all of the members and parent volunteers from Team Give, our fantastic staff who supported this event, and the amazing Caruso staff.

In case you didn’t hear, Wilmot won 2 games to none :)

Kindness Corner
#wilmotkindnessrocks
Currently, our 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to write and win one of five Kindness Grants. These are projects/ideas that will promote or teach kindness throughout the school and community. Ask your fourth or fifth grader if they are submitting one! Stay tuned for more information - as the grant applications are due March 11, 2019.
Check out more of the amazing Kindness Posters made by students and displayed throughout Wilmot

"Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
