The Wilmot Word: 4-12-19

This Week at Wilmot
Students were very busy this week at Wilmot. Third through fifth graders worked hard on their IAR testing and younger students were very kind and supportive of their older buddies. Mrs. Rosheger’s students even made very sweet cards for their older buddies in Mrs. Han’s class. Check these out in the pictures below. I also had the pleasure of joining kindergarten during a part of choice time this week. Students were very engaged as they planned and a pretend birthday party. Students used their communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills as they shopped at the store, baked in the kitchen, wrapped gifts and set the party table. Mrs. Tiemann's class has been experimenting with friction. Changing the materials used on slides as well as the angel of their slides students were able to observe the impact on friction. Check out the beautiful warm and cool color cows second graders made. These are really awesome! Other second graders have enjoyed planting during science.

Kindness Corner
#wilmotkindnessrocks
Here is a note from Mrs. Santella about our Wilmot Kindness Grants.
In March over 15 teams of students submitted Kindness grants, and 5 grant proposals were awarded. These grants range from a Kindness Garden, Kindness in the Lunchroom, teaching Kindness-SEL lessons during Buddy Time, and of course Kindness rocks! Students are working very hard with staff members to finalize the plans and we anticipate implementing them over the next few weeks. We are all very excited to show how Wilmot students grow and show kindness.

Goals and Concerns Forms (3rd posting)
Click here to find the Goals and Concerns Form. This is an optional form parents may use to communicate information for consideration when we make class placements for the 2019-2020 school year. The placement process is long and involved and our staff puts a great deal of time into making class placements that best meet the needs of all students. If you have specific questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. All forms are due by Wednesday, April 24.

Lost and Found
We have a lot of winter items in our lost and found. If your child is missing a jacket, hat, shirt, gloves or a water bottle encourage him/her to check out the lost and found tables set up near the front lobby. Feel free to stop by and take a look if you are at Wilmot. All unclaimed items will be donated on April 23, 2019.
