The Wilmot Word: The Final Word

The Final Word
Just a few moments ago we said goodbye to all of our students as they left for summer vacation. I would like to thank our students, Wilmot families and staff for another great school year. We are already hard at work planning for the 2019-2020 school year. We look forward to implementing flexible seating with new furniture in all 2nd-5th grade classrooms, continuing a focus on kindness and welcoming new students to the Wilmot family.

I also want to take a moment to personally thank the Wilmot PTO for their ongoing support and volunteer efforts that allow us to provide our students with many engaging and unique learning experiences.

Today I inadvertently missed a group of students who should have been recognized for a Helping Hands award for volunteering their time at lunch, during recess and with special needs students. Thank you to all of our wonderful helpers. Congratulations and thank you to the following students who were missed earlier today. Each has received a certificate.

Cameron H., Zoey R., Madeleine R., Avery B., Sabrina C., Sari G., Bianca H., Zach W., Liam S., Trevor G., Ben Fi., Josie M., Stella S., Payton N., Tamas R., Simon W., Avery C., Zoie B., Liza K., Nela P., Lola K., Ashley L., Lila I., Dylan M., and Aedan M.

Below you will find pictures from some of our end of year events including field day, the talent show, and another special ride to school on a fire truck. You will also see highlights from our annual farewell 5th-grade breakfast, the awards assembly and the final parade of spirit award winners.

On behalf of the entire staff I wish all of our Wilmot families a wonderful and relaxing summer break and I wish our fifth graders all the best as they transition to Caruso.

Progress Reports
Progress reports have been posted in Family Access. Earlier this year we shared the descriptor for our revised standards-based progress report. Click here to view those descriptors.

Lost and Found
All items will be donated on Wednesday, June 12.

Medications
If your child takes medication at school an adult must pick up medicine from the nurse’s office. If you were unable to do so, we will hold the medicine in the nurse’s office.

School Fees 2019-2020
Please read this letter regarding school district fees for the 2019-2020 school year. All fees are due by July 1, 2019.

What to do if your child (K-4th) is not returning to Wilmot next year (4th posting)
Email Dr. Brett as soon as possible at ebrett@dps109.org
Include your child’s anticipated last day of attendance at Wilmot.
Include the forwarding address or, at a minimum, the city and state you will be moving to.
The new school will send us a written request for student records after you have officially registered. All student records will be sent directly to the new school. If we know that you are moving we will prepare these in advance to decrease the time it takes to prepare and send student records.

Summer Reading @ Deerfield Public Library!

Two Youth Service Librarians from the Deerfield Public Library will visit Wilmot students on Tuesday, June 11th to introduce the summer reading program, It’s Showtime At Your Library. The big kick-off for this program was on Saturday, June 8 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Deerfield Public Library. You do not need to have a Deerfield Library Card to sign up for the program. The program runs from Saturday, June 8th through Sunday, August 4th. This year all students work together to earn a gold, silver or bronze medal for District 109 based on participation. Let’s keep those reading skills strong and earn a medal for District 109! Go for the gold!
