What A Busy Week
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday.

Students were very busy this week engaging in exciting lessons across all subjects. Some fourth graders made race cars out of cups, rubber bands and straws as part of their study of energy. Students raced their cars and had to determine how much to wind up the car using a straw to have it land in a specific location. Other students were observed in PE practicing jumping and other locomotor skills to encourage controlled movement and balance. Our musicians engaged in large and small group band and orchestra lessons this week. It is always fun to see fourth graders during their first lessons as they learn notes and how to play their instruments.

Please check out the attached newsletter from Mrs. Lathan in the LMC.

Kindness Corner
#wilmotkindnessrocks - Last week I received a wonderful email from a parent regarding our kindness campaign. Mrs. Raymond shared an act of kindness she and her children were the recipients of. When playing on the playground after school last week a boy on a scooter stopped the family as they were leaving and asked if two sweatshirts he had found on the blacktop belonged to them. Although the shirts did not belong to the family, Mrs. Raymond shared that this student's concern, thoughtfulness, and kindness were in abundance, along with great manners and friendliness. Mrs. Raymond shared that as her family walked away they said “how kind.” The Raymond family went home and painted their own kindness rocks to share with friends, family, and neighbors. It is my hope that as a community we will continue to recognize kindness in our students, staff, and families.

Bus Passes
Bus passes were distributed this week. These should be attached to each student’s backpack. If your child did not receive a pass and they ride the bus please email Mrs. Anstett at Our drivers will start checking bus passes on Tuesday. If your child was not given a bus pass please let your driver know and we will make sure they have a temporary bus pass on Tuesday.

Attention Third Grade Parents:
District 109 has planned an Advanced Learning Evening for all third-grade parents on September 26, 2018, at 7:30 PM at the District Office.

Dana Stein, the Advanced Learning Coordinator, will be presenting along with the four Advanced Learning specialists from each building. This is an opportunity for parents to learn what our new programming looks like and how it is being implemented in the third-grade classrooms. For additional information about our Advanced Learning programs, please visit the website.

MAP Testing
MAP testing will continue next week for any students who have not yet completed the reading and math assessments.

International Dot Day

Wilmot is celebrating International Dot Day on September 14th ish! International Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration. Dot Day is based on the book, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds. This inspirational story encourages students to feel confident about themselves and their abilities. Wilmot will be celebrating Dot Day in many different ways. We encourage all students to wear dot clothing to school on Friday, Sept. 14. You can celebrate at home too!
