District 109 Board of Education Receives Governance Award

The Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Board of Education has earned an award recognizing its excellence in governance that supports quality local public education.

The School Board Governance Recognition, issued every two years, is awarded by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). The District 109 Board of Education also received the honor in 2017.

“We are thrilled to receive this award, which is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment to good governance of our entire board,” said Nick Begley, president of the District 109 Board of Education. “It is a true honor to serve on a board with so many smart and talented people who are focused on the high achievement of our students. This recognition should serve as a tremendous point of pride for the board, the district, and our entire community.”

The board will be formally recognized at IASB's Fall Lake Division Meeting on October 29. The board will also be featured in a display at the IASB Info Center during the Joint Annual Conference in November. Nineteen school boards across the state received the award this year.

The Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Board of Education includes President Nick Begley, Vice President Scott Kluge, Secretary Sari Montgomery, Kenneth Ashman, Katie Bittner, Ryan Kuo, and Andrew Morrison.
