1st Graders Learn About Bottling Up Their Feelings
Posted by DPS 109 Communications on 1/11/2023
Back in November, 1st graders got to take part in a really meaningful social-emotional learning (SEL) lesson about managing feelings.
Ms. Tierney, one of our resource teachers, taught them about how to control stress, frustration, and anger. She used a bottle of soda as a visual example of what happens when we do not use strategies to manage our feelings. She then read the book, Soda Pop Head. In the book, Lester learns a few techniques to “loosen the top” and cool down before his fizz takes control."
A good lesson for all of us to keep in mind! #109way
